MCS‑150 Record Check

The FMCSA census record for any USDOT number. Free, no account.

For carriers

When is your MCS‑150 actually due?

Not two years from your last filing. A month and a year assigned by the last two digits of your USDOT number, fixed since the number was issued. That is why people miss it. Put your number in and we will work it out.

Want us to tell you before it comes round?

One email when your filing window opens, one if it is about to close. Nothing else, and one click to stop. Free.

We store the number and the address so we can send the reminder, and nothing else. No password, no account to cancel.

The letters quoting you $300 are somebody's service fee

They copy government seals and envelope design closely enough to fool anyone in a hurry, and they want $100 to $300 to type your details into a federal form. Read the return address. FMCSA does not invoice you.

Our paid product does not file for you. It sends a draft built from the public record, then watches that record after you file and tells you when the MCS‑150 date changes.

Why you can't see your own file the way your customers can

Carrier411 charges $99 per month and says on its own page that it maintains 18 different FMCSA data sets under subscription. It also says, word for word:

Ineligible businesses that attempt to create accounts get blocked and can't get access to our platform. So don't even try to create a trial. carrier411.com, read 29 July 2026

Carriers are the ineligible businesses. Your customers can subscribe to see your file. You can't.

So type your number in and read what's on the record. If the MCS‑150 date looks old to you, or the field is empty, that's what a broker pulling your file sees too. The regulation puts it plainly enough: the rule describes deactivation for failure to file, but FMCSA has temporarily suspended that step while Motus problems continue. Your filing month and year aren't something you choose. They come out of the last two digits of your own USDOT number, so the date has been sitting there since the number was issued.

Get your MCS‑150 ready. Know when the federal record changes.

The deadline comes whether you are at a desk or halfway across the country. We start the filing from the federal record, put the details in front of you, and keep watching after you submit it.

A stale public date can start a bad conversation with a broker, customer, or insurer. Keep the dated row from before you file and the new one that appears afterward.

$64 a year. Your deadline, a head start on the form, and proof the public date moved.

The rest of the year we watch the record and tell you the day it moves, in the words a broker pulling your file would read.

FMCSA moved carrier registration to Motus in May 2026. It has temporarily suspended USDOT inactivation for missed biennial updates since June 1 while the new system stabilizes.

Two things follow. A record that looks past due may belong to a carrier who tried to file and could not. And the deactivation the regulation describes isn't currently being applied. Treat a stale date as a reason to ask the carrier, not as a conclusion about them.
